A seed-bearing lollipop is botanical candy with edible herbs and flowers that weave throughout. After devouring, you can plant the biodegradable stick in soil horizontally, cover with a layer of top soil, water daily, and grow a herb or flower. Each heirloom herb or flower grown has a connection to what you just ate; Sage & Marshmallow grows a sage plant, while Peach & Marigold yields marigold. While we are proud to offer treats that are both kid-friendly and adult approved, a seed-bearing lollipops is about forming a relationship with nature and sharing this experience with those you love. We believe nature is the greatest medicine and most enlightened teacher.
Before launching our company in March of 2016, we foraged flowers and herbs to shape our first logo, sourced turmeric and carrot natural dyes to give our lollipops their vivid hue, and as a nod to nature named our company after the first flower to move from water to land. Today we learn from farmers who remind us how important the soil beneath our feet is, we learn from companies like Patagonia who have walked the path before us uplifting nature and their employees so masterfully, and we learn from you, our amazing customers everyday.
Natures beauty and sentiment brings this company full circle and we find great joy in continuing to define what a seed-bearing lollipop is all about.
Growing up, I spent weekends at my grandmothers apartment and together we tended to her balcony full of plants. I can’t recall a single television show I watched or text message that I sent during those visits, but I will always remember the smell of her tomato plants and the anticipation of seeing which plants had grown week-to-week.
In 2011 I came up with the concept of housing a seed inside a lollipop stick. For me this was the perfect way to lure generations, both young and old back into the garden.

Culture, community, and connection are themes that have been a constant in my life. Before launching AO, I was a journalist interviewing flower farmers, authors, chefs, designers, and musicians. I often wrote about sustainability and loved discovering people, products, and experiences.
In route for an afternoon coffee one day with Brennan (my then boyfriend and now husband), he shared his idea for a lollipop that possessed the ability to grow herbs and flowers. We decided then that we'd bring his idea to life and haven't looked back! Ideas are worthy of being celebrated.
